A native New Yorker, I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology
where I studied restoration and conservation of traditional water gilding,
wooden objects and various decorative arts. My studies included a
six-year apprenticeship with master artisan and professor, Eli Rios in
New York City at ECR Antique Conservation and Restoration (ECR). At ECR
I had the opportunity to work on the finest 17th, 18th and 19th century
English, French and American period furniture and giltwood picture
frames. When I completed my apprenticeship with ECR in 2000, I ventured
out on my own to develop a successful gilding studio in Brooklyn, NY.
During that time, with tools in tow, I traveled extensively throughout
Europe, acquiring private clients in Denmark, France and Spain. Thanks
to Eli Rios, I have gained an in-depth understanding of traditional
methods and materials, applied chemistry, the ethics of historic
preservation and conservation, and a strong working knowledge of period
style and design.
I currently reside in Northern California.
Craftsmanship and Practice
I
carry very high standards of craftsmanship, ethics and professionalism,
as well as a great love and passion for my work as an artist and crafts
person. I am always seeking to expand my knowledge of history, methods
and materials to better myself and enhance my skills.
Periodically,
I return to the East Coast for projects with ECR and existing private
clients. I work with premier antique dealers, and interior designers in
New York City. Some of my clients include Christie's Auction House and
Florian Papp.
